Hi!
I am a Delhi-based researcher, writer and editorial consultant.

I specialise in analytical writing as well as building niche editorial products that bring together a variety of data, research and journalistic analysis across socio-economic themes. I am particularly interested in tracking women's representation in public life (and especially in politics, leadership positions, and in the workforce).
In the recent past, I have worked on projects run and supported by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the International Economic Association, Centre for Budget Governance and Accountability (CBGA), Telus International, Oxfam India, UN Women India among others. My work across these projects (and past full-time roles) has often involved data collection and analysis, research and using such analyses to develop a range of products – from strategic advocacy tools, to media reports, trackers, policy papers, training curriculum and workshops.

Most recently, I was the Director of the Centre for Economic Data and Analysis (CEDA) at Ashoka University. In this position, I led the development and dissemination of the centre’s various data offerings, which included analytical research narratives as well as data trackers and dashboards. I also managed the centre’s project on women’s economic empowerment -- a research and advocacy project that investigated demand-side hurdles to women's entry and retention in paid work in India. In January 2023, I set up and launched 'Women & Work' , the centre's flagship monthly publication tracking women's participation in paid work in India.

Since May 2020, I have been running #WomenLead (womenlead.substack.com), a one-of-its-kind publication compiling the most important updates on women political leaders across the globe. Since its launch, #WomenLead has become a vital go-to resource and archive of news and research for scholars, policy experts, journalists and lay readers across the world. Its work has been featured and cited in various Indian and international publications.

I am an active member of the community of experts, researchers and activists working at the intersection of gender and politics in India. My writings and reportage have appeared in a range of publications including The Indian Express, Ms. Magazine, Seminar, Hindustan Times, and IndiaSpend, and my work has been cited in multiple academic, news and policy publications. I also lead trainings and mentoring sessions for young people interested in working on gender rights, social science research, or who want to use data in their writing and storytelling.
When I am not working, I like to spend my time reading, taking long meditative walks, solving word puzzles or exploring places of architectural and artistic heritage. I am always thinking of my next cup of tea :)
